THE PICTURES is the first in our new series of film events. Every few months we will screen a film we love in a fantastic venue, and invite down people to share a great time with.
For the inaugural event we showed a preview of Oscar-winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom at the former HQ of the Rolling Stones in Wandsworth. Now used by Cato Music as a rehearsal space, we created a pop up cinema in the room where Mick Jagger would store all his best cars in the 1960s and 70s.
Turning the spotlight onto the backing singers for some of music’s most iconic artists, 20 Feet From Stardom is a delightful celebration of the extraordinary talent of a group of under-appreciated performers. The screening also provided a platform for new distributor Altitude Film Distribution, for whom the film is the first of many exciting releases.
DJs from Domino Publishing provided the music whilst people played table tennis and foosball late into the night. There were drinks courtesy of BrewDog beer and Rekorderlig cider, Killer Tomato selling awesome veggie street food, and free Portlebay Popcorn for everyone there. Extra special thank yous go to graphic designers Theo Inglis and Mike Wilson, who lent their talents to us.
We announce events like this first on our Idea Spark emails, so be on the look out for more free tickets to THE PICTURES over the coming months.
